You know that feeling where you’re just so excited about a day or an event that it feels like it should start immediately Yeah, that was me the night before my first day at Sciart. I was so excited that I woke up early in order to come to work in time but I guess Lagos island traffic had other plans for me, I was almost late on my first day, I couldn’t believe it as I was practically running trying to make it just in time, Patrick was waiting for me in the lobby. He had texted to ask why I wasn’t there yet, and it made sense Patrick and I go way back to our university days. I arrived just in time, and together we headed up to the office.
The moment I walked into the office, i was greeted really well by everyone I met, Omololu came over to say hi to me, he was somewhat new to the company like me but he had resumed some weeks before and had started his “sharp rotation program” he welcomed me to the company, Ayobami also came over to say hi along with other people, and all i could hear was “welcome to Sciart”. I wasn’t really expecting any of this since they didn’t know me at that point but I was glad it happened, they were really nice and friendly. As i waited for the HR to arrive, I noticed how comfortable everyone was with themselves, they greeted like friends not colleagues, smiles were effortless and it gave me that assurance that I was going to love it here.
My onboarding process began when the HR arrived, I was onboarded on the company’s culture, values, and policies in which employees and management are to abide by for smooth running of business operations, I was also told i was to begin my “sharp rotation program”, i looked at the HR confused as to what she meant by the sharp rotation program, she mentioned that i was going to work in each of the various departments of the company before i finally resume into my department fully, she then explained that the sharp rotation program was meant to ease me into the operations of the company. One thing I found very strange was that everyone was on a first name basis, you mean I can call my superiors by their first name including the CEO ? It took me a while to fully come to terms with this, but I think I’ll get used to it eventually. The onboarding process was good, very necessary as well because it showed me what it would take to fully become a Sciartist. After I was onboarded, I was then introduced one after the other to some staff in the other departments, I met Boluwatife from Brands and Communications, Mma from Branch Operations and also Yewande the head of Risk and Compliance, surprisingly she was really nice as she asked me some questions about my self and also welcomed me to the company, she also gave me sweets as a welcome gift I was surprised but I felt really welcomed, I was then taken to my department, Growth & Experience to meet my team members as well as my line manager, I met Omolara, Tunji, Funmi and my line manager Ifey. It was nice to know everyone by name and what their role in the company is.
I thought it was great learning and understanding how the company operates, the chain of command and how tasks are carried out effectively, this made me feel genuinely proud to be part of the Sciart. It wasn’t just a “First day” it was a learning experience. Everyone takes their work seriously at Sciart, they communicate well and make sure their ideas are heard, It’s the kind of environment where a person should strive to be, the place where I choose to be, where learning feels natural and asking questions feels convenient. My First day was more about observation, but after watching closely on how things are done, it left me eager, to learn, do more, and grow into my role. By the end of the day, I left the office feeling inspired, genuinely happy about the journey ahead. I feel Sciart is not just a workplace, its a place where Growth as well as your Experience is rewarded.
I’m happy to be a part of The Sciart Finance Company.
GO SCIARTIST !!!.
