My first month at The Sciart Finance Company Limited has been a memorable and eye-opening experience, both professionally and personally. Joining a growing finance firm and stepping into my dream career path came with a mix of excitement, curiosity, and a bit of uncertainty but overall, it has been a rewarding start to my journey.
One of the first things I was introduced to at Sciart was the S.H.A.R.P rotation programme. S.H.A.R.P is a structured onboarding and learning programme designed to expose new employees to the various departments within the organization. The objective is to provide new hires with a practical understanding of departmental functions and how cross-functional collaboration supports the organization’s overall goals. Looking back now, I think it is a brilliant initiative because it encourages collaboration, builds empathy across teams, and helps employees see bigger picture beyond their individual roles.
Before starting the S.H.A.R.P programme, I was honestly a bit skeptical. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, and I was concerned about how well I would function in departments outside my core finance interest. I worried that my limited knowledge of some areas might slow me down. However, my experience in the Growth and Experience department quickly put those fears to rest.
Although I was initially scheduled to spend two weeks in the department, I ended up spending three weeks due to the volume of work and learning opportunities available. The department is fast-paced and very client-facing, and it showed me a side of the business I hadn’t fully appreciated before. Engaging with clients and maintaining responsiveness under tight timelines is more demanding than it appears, and this experience strengthened my communication skills, patience, and ability to deliver value under pressure.
Throughout my time in the Growth and Experience Department, I received strong support from the team Tunde, Funmi, Patrick, and Omolara. They were consistently receptive, accommodating, and always willing to guide me through tasks and processes. Their support made the experience less intimidating and far more enjoyable, and it reinforced how strong teamwork is within the organization.
Coming into Sciart, I didn’t have very defined expectations I was simply excited to start a new role, meet new people, and finally begin my professional journey. Like most people starting somewhere new, integrating into a fresh environment was a bit challenging at first. The first day felt slightly lonely, but that feeling didn’t last long. My teammates Timi, Anthonia, Olayemi, and Solape made a deliberate effort to include me and ensure I felt comfortable. I also remember Yewande and Omolara going out of their way to engage me in conversations and making me feel at ease, for which I am genuinely grateful.
One of the things I noticed on my first day, and even more clearly over my first month, was the noticeable presence of Gen Z employees across the firm. This initially came as a culture shock in the best way possible. From the energy and creativity to the subtle mix of professionalism and humor, it was refreshing to see a workplace where serious work still coexists with personality (and yes, sometimes soft-life conversations in between). It is also important to note that these Gen Z professionals are properly grounded and truly know their onions, bringing fresh perspectives while maintaining a strong sense of responsibility and work ethic.
Now that my first rotation is complete, my perspective on the SHARP programme has changed significantly. What started as uncertainty turned into excitement. Based on my experience so far, I am eager to explore more departments, learn new skills, and continue growing with my team in the long run. Overall, my first month at Sciart Finance Limited has laid a solid foundation, and I am looking forward to contributing meaningfully as I progress within the organization.
